C.P. Shades

A company that makes our hearts go pitter-patter.
" />

Billowy tunics.  Crisp, white linen tops.  Breezy silk tanks.  It’s summer dressing at its best - and no one does it better than C.P. Shades!  Over the past thirty years, the company has perfected the art of casual, easy-to-wear wardrobe basics.  Something that keeps our customers (as well as our Bliss staff!) wanting more season after season!

Rather than beginning with a design, the team at C.P. Shades places the highest importance on fabric.  The result is a low-maintenance, machine washable garment that only gets better with time.  Plus, every piece is manufactured in Sausalito, California, something that founder David Weinstein takes great pride in - “We live here, so it makes sense to do it here!”  We couldn’t agree more.

Needless to say, C.P. Shades is a company that we adore.  Even with our racks overflowing with new merchandise, their pieces create an almost ethereal feeling in our stores.  They’ve done more than create top quality clothing... they’ve succeeded in creating a lifestyle.  One that I, among many others, want to be a part of.

My newest obsession?  Their square, 100% cotton bandana scarves.  Flawlessly printed and only $32, these are a no-brainer for my spring wardrobe!

{Tell me:  What’s your favorite C.P. Shades piece?  How do you plan on wearing it this spring/summer?}

Fall 2012 Buying Trip

Day 3 Recap

Day 3 was our much anticipated “denim day” at Coterie!  The majority of our day was booked full of denim appointments at all of our favorite lines.  We knew it would be a lot to take in, but couldn’t wait to see what the denim industry has in store for fall.

Joe’s Jeans

Our appointment at Joe’s Jeans started with their ready-to-wear collection, which consisted of covetable tops, darling dresses and novelty jackets.  They capitalized on the mini-dot trend with adorable flannel button-ups - something you’ll be seeing in our stores come September!  Their denim was a sure thing as well; we ordered plenty of our customer’s favorite denim staples... and threw in a red skinny jean too!

AG

AG’s booth is always very recognizable at the show.  Their walls are made of huge wood panels, they have doll-size displays on their walls of all their denim styles (so cute!), and they even have an AG bar at the front of their booth.  It’s slightly over the top, but if anyone can get away with it, it’s AG!

The mini-dot trend was seen here as well - both in a sheer top and on their jeans!  I can’t get enough of this trend; it’s cute, wearable and women of all ages can get away with wearing it.  In addition to the dots, AG had some note-worthy denim washes and a large selection of colored corduroys for fall - a wardrobe staple here in New England!

Fall 2012 Buying Trip

Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of our buying trip started much like every other day - with coffee!  We stumbled upon a quaint little cafe a few blocks from the show that kind of reminded us of Bard Coffee (only not quite as good, of course!), and we went there every morning for the rest of our trip.  With caffeine in our system, we headed towards the Javits Center for our first day at Coterie...

Nashelle

Our first stop was Nashelle’s booth, and I can’t think of a better way we could have started the show.  Her jewelry is so unique; every piece is handmade and it truly shows in her fine details & craftsmanship.  Everything looked stunning as usual, but there were a couple standouts.  The first one was her mini collection - basically she made some of her best-sellers in a smaller size (something I really appreciate since I can’t wear heavy, large earrings all day).  Practical and still super stylish - it’s a win-win combination!  The other standout was Nashelle’s charm necklaces.  With a wide variety of charms, there was something there for everyone.  (Stay tuned - there’s talk about having a charm necklace trunk show in our stores sometime soon!)

Butter by Nadia

If you’ve ever been in our stores, you’ve seen our wrap dresses by Butter.  They are a crowd favorite... and for good reason.  Their design, fabric and overall look sets them apart, and you will continue to see this for fall.  Color blocking was a big theme at their booth, along with mid-length and maxi-length skirts.  We’re excited about the new three-quarter length wrap dresses as well - it’s the perfect dress for any occasion!  You’ll want to wear it everyday (and you can!).

Fall 2012 Buying Trip

Day 1 Recap

It’s a busy time of year for us at Bliss.  New merchandise is rolling in for Spring - bright colors, fun dresses, and even shorts!  It’s as if our stores are getting a fresh makeover after a long winter; it’s exciting (and refreshing!) to say the least.  But for some of us, we’re already looking ahead to Fall... yes, Fall.  You see, just a couple weeks ago we headed down to New York City for Fall Coterie - the largest women’s contemporary clothing & accessories trade show in the fashion industry.  With over 1,200 vendors and 15,000 attendees, it’s a whirlwind of Fall collections, upcoming trends and a glimpse into what our stores will look like come September.

I know it’s hard to even think about skipping over the best time of year (spring/summer!), but trust me when I say that you won’t be disappointed when Fall rolls around.  Keep reading for a recap of our buying trip!
